Using what for fuel?! Thankfully, the instructions end up changing to cow dung instead but this is truly one of those “what tha” Bible verses.

Eat the food as you would a loaf of barley bread; bake it in the sight of the people, using human excrement for fuel.” – Ezekiel 4:12

Throughout this chapter, God gives Ezekiel specific instructions in order to get the attention of the people of Jerusalem. The prophet performed various symbolic acts such as drawing on a clay brick, laying on his side for over a year, and even whipping up a batch of horrible smelling food.

God wanted everyone to notice and respond to the specific visuals that Ezekiel provided but they refused. He wanted to let them know that because of their stubborn ways, judgement was soon coming to them and to their city.

Is God putting things out there to get your attention? Perhaps life has handed you a poop sandwich from time to time. Whatever the case may be, remember to keep your eyes and ears open to God’s provision and stay on the path that He has laid out for you.
