With all the earthquakes, hurricanes, fires and missile launchings showing up in the media lately, one can’t help to think that end times are truly upon us. Reports on violence, death and destruction are very troubling but events much worse (Revelation 16:1-21) are expected to take place soon. Are you ready?
In the book of Matthew, Jesus provides us with signs that will take place before His glorious return but that exact day and hour is unknown. So what are we to do until then? Should we run around in panic, fearing the worst while making bad decisions? There is no time or need for that. Jesus gives us specific instructions to be ready and to keep watch.
So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him. – Matthew 24:44
His instructions do not mean to sit at the window gazing at the clouds all day. Jesus wants us to prepare ourselves for His return by telling others about Him, obeying His commands and doing good work for Him while we wait. He wants our hearts to be ready!
Wrath is coming soon but there is hope and peace for His beloved followers (Revelation 3:11). Jesus promises that if we keep His commands and endure patiently, He will keep us from that hour of trial that is going to come on the whole world to test the inhabitants of the earth. (Revelation 3:10) If you do not believe in Jesus Christ, now is the time to give your heart to Him so that you can say in great confidence: “I’M READY!“
