Don't Take The Bait
The enemy rarely shows up in ways that are easy to recognize. More often, the approach is subtle. It can look like a good opportunity, a step forward, or simply the desire for a little more. Like bait on a hook, it offers something appealing on the surface, while hiding the true cost underneath.

Money itself is not the issue, but the pursuit of it can quietly shift our hearts. What starts as a desire to provide or succeed can slowly turn into a pursuit of control, security, or identity apart from God. Over time, something that once seemed harmless can begin to pull us away from Him without us even realizing it.

Scripture gives a clear warning about this danger. God is not against provision or blessing, but He is very clear about the trap that can come with loving money.

“Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.” – 1 Timothy 6:9–10

This is not just about wealth, it is about direction. Where is your heart being led?

The next time something shiny and promising grabs your attention, take a moment to pause and ask yourself a simple question, is this drawing me closer to God, or is it pulling me away from Him?

Not everything that looks good is from God. Some things are bait. Don’t take it!
