King David dancing

Because it was a symbol of God’s presence and glory, King David longed to have the Ark of the Covenant relocated to the city of Jerusalem. He knew that once the Ark was in the city, all of Israel would worship the Lord together.

After many struggles and obstacles, the Ark finally arrived and was carried throughout the city. David, in great excitement, leaped and danced while he praised God. Because David was a king, some onlookers thought that he was acting improper and undignified. Because he was truly worshipping the Lord, David didn’t care how ridiculous he looked. He simply wanted to joyfully show his immense gratitude to God.

Wearing a linen ephod, David was dancing before the Lord with all his might, while he and all Israel were bringing up the ark of the Lord with shouts and the sound of trumpets. – 2 Samuel 6:14-15

We are not robots and we all should worship freely! Worship without limits and without fear that we are being too silly for those around us. God deserves everything we have to give and we shouldn’t let meaningless thoughts stop us.

What holds you back from this kind of faith and worship?

  1. I love this! I’ve being reading psalms & today went to 2 Samuel to read the Davidic covenant. David is a great example of how we should praise God. Through trials and in all things. I found you on YouTube and I appreciate you and your wife’s openness & willingness to share about God. Have a blessed 2019!
