Stop Complaining

Hangry and exhausted, the Israelites began to grumble. They complained and murmured against both Moses and God, even though it was their own sin and unbelief that kept them from entering the Promised Land. Out of frustration, they blamed the very God who had rescued and provided for them.

As judgment, the Lord sent venomous snakes into the camp, and many people died. In their suffering, the people finally recognized their sin and pleaded with Moses to pray for God’s mercy.

This passage is a powerful reminder of how easy it is to complain about what God has already graciously provided. The Israelites despised the manna, the miraculous food God gave them daily to sustain their lives.

The next time you find yourself grumbling about your circumstances, pause and remember that even difficult seasons are often filled with blessings we fail to notice. And honestly, it is probably much better than a camp full of snakes! 🐍

Numbers 21:5-7:
“They spoke against God and against Moses, and said, ‘Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? There is no bread! There is no water! And we detest this miserable food!’

Then the Lord sent venomous snakes among them; they bit the people and many Israelites died. The people came to Moses and said, ‘We sinned when we spoke against the Lord and against you. Pray that the Lord will take the snakes away from us.’ So Moses prayed for the people.”
