Playing With Temptation
Temptation doesn’t always shout or flash warning signs. Often, it looks harmless, even playful, like something you can handle or just “try a little.” That’s exactly how sin lures us in, appealing, fun, or curious.

James 1:14 says, “But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire.” Notice, it’s not God tempting you, it’s your own desires inviting you to dance with danger. What looks small and harmless today can become deadly tomorrow.

Imagine a cat batting at a snake, thinking it’s just a game. One wrong move and the bite comes, sudden, painful, and potentially life-changing. That’s temptation. It can hide, waiting for a moment when we let our guard down.

The safest move is not to play with it at all. Flee from what you know could harm you. Stand on God’s Word. Pray for wisdom and strength. Some battles aren’t meant to be tested, they’re meant to be avoided.

Today, ask yourself: What temptation am I treating like a harmless game? What “just one look” could turn into a deadly bite? Don’t test what you know is dangerous, run toward God, not toward the trap.
