What Are You Feeding

The problem isn’t enjoying the blessings God gives us. The danger comes when satisfying ourselves becomes more important than following God and caring about others.

We can easily become focused on, “What do I want? What makes me happy? What can I get?” while God may be calling us to give, serve, sacrifice, and care for someone else.

James uses a sobering picture. He was warning wealthy people who were indulging themselves while exploiting others. Like an animal fattened for the day of slaughter, they were storing up judgment for themselves.

What are we feeding? Our own desires, or a life that honors God and blesses others?

You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves in the day of slaughter. (James 5:5)
