How can we ever have meaningful worship if we are being too critical about every single thing that happens during church service? If we are constantly being distracted by the enemy, we are losing the fight.
Recently, a musical group named Common Bond Quartet visited the church that I attend and delivered this exact message to the congregation. It hit home with me because I am 100% guilty of bringing the devil to church with me. It is truly surprising on how much negative, judgemental bitterness can come up within just one hour of service. This junk gets in the way of worship, causes the message to be missed and kills the song and praise.
So how do we get past these awful diversions? In the name of Jesus, we must ask God for help! We should pray that our faith remains strong and rebuke anything unfavorable that comes to mind. The song, “Don’t Let The Devil Go To Church With You“, will inspire you after reading the two following scriptures.
No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. – 1 Corinthians 10:13
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think about such things. – Philippians 4:8
