When Jesus spoke about adultery, he told us: “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.” 🔪👁
This scripture talks about husbands lusting over women but wives should also remain faithful to their husbands. Anyone looking at another person with a lustful heart means that they have cheated on their spouse and have also broken God’s seventh commandment: You shall not commit adultery.
With today’s technology and media at our fingertips, the enemy begs us to give into his temptations. Don’t go for the bait! The devil has created many traps for us to fall into such as pornography, dating/cheating sites, movies created in poor taste and even someone dressed in inappropriate clothing.
So how do we turn from this sin? Do we really have to rip our eyes out?! Jesus is not saying to cut our eyes out in a physical manner, but to do it spiritually with our hearts. Christ wants us to have a pure heart for Him and He clearly does not want us looking at things that we shouldn’t be looking at. Anything that causes our hearts to stumble and sin, He wants us to turn from the destruction. If we chose not to, He makes it very clear where we will end up for eternity.
This harmful desire needs to be fought with a very determined heart. Ask God for help and do your best to turn away from a lustful heart. If you would like prayers, get in contact through a comment, private message or email through our website (drawforgod.com). We would love to pray for you!
