Why do we focus on the issues of other people? We want to quickly point out their problems but ignore our own. To help others in a condescending way only brings on hypocritical judgement. Jesus instructs us not to pass judgement and criticize others. If we want to help people, we must first deal with and understand our own faith obstacles. It is only then will we be able to speak truth and lovingly help our brothers and sisters.
You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye. – Matthew 7:5
