Cutting someone into pieces was once a cruel form of punishment practiced by ancient kings. If the convicted person was found to be guilty of lying or even trying to serve someone other than the king, they would receive the sharp sword of judgement.

In the text of Matthew 24:45-51, Jesus demonstrates the difference between a faithful servant and a wicked servant along with their actions while their master is away. As you can assume, the faithful servant reaps a vast reward, while the wicked servant receives punishment upon their master’s return.

Our reward will be great if we follow the Master’s instructions but if we choose to do the opposite and rebel, we will face much suffering.

The Lord’s coming will be joyous for those that will be found ready, but very dreadful to those that are not. Many of us say that we are ready for His return, but when that time comes, will we be caught serving Him or ourselves?

He will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. – Matthew 24:51
